Premium Received SMS Template for Insurance Agents & Brokers
A ready-to-adapt SMS message for insurance agents, brokers and advisors, with placeholders, sample values and compliance notes.
When to Send This Message
Send after premium payment is confirmed. For insurance agents, brokers and advisors, this is one of the everyday messages that keeps policyholders informed without a phone call. It can be sent manually from a panel at first and automated later through an API.
Insurance buyers want advice they can trust and reminders they will not miss.
The SMS Template
India (DLT format)
Dear {#var#}, premium of Rs. {#var#} for policy {#var#} has been received on {#var#}. Thank you for renewing with [Business Name].International (plain text)
Dear {customer}, premium of Rs. {amount} for policy {policy_no} has been received on {date}. Thank you for renewing with [Business Name].Example with sample values
Dear Mr. Tiwari, premium of Rs. 12,340 for policy XXXX8812 has been received on 28 Oct. Thank you for renewing with [Business Name].
With these sample values the message is 134 characters in the standard GSM-7 character set, which is 1 SMS part (square brackets count as two characters each). Long links or local-language (Unicode) text increase the count, as Unicode SMS allow 70 characters per single part.
Replace [Business Name] with your registered brand name. Links shown use example.com as a placeholder; use your own domain.
Placeholders and Sample Values
| Placeholder | Meaning | Sample value |
|---|---|---|
| {#var#} | Customer | Mr. Tiwari |
| {#var#} | Amount | 12,340 |
| {#var#} | Policy no | XXXX8812 |
| {#var#} | Date | 28 Oct |
Filling in each placeholder
- Customer (sample: Mr. Tiwari): Use the first name or the salutation the customer gave you; fall back to a neutral greeting if the field is empty.
- Amount (sample: 12,340): Write amounts as Rs. 1,499 rather than with the rupee symbol, which forces Unicode encoding in SMS and shortens each part to 70 characters.
- Policy no (sample: XXXX8812): Use the same reference format that appears on your invoices, receipts or software, so customers and staff can match it quickly.
- Date (sample: 28 Oct): Write dates in an unambiguous form such as 14 Oct or 14 Oct 2026; avoid formats like 10/11 that customers read differently.
This template has 4 placeholders and a body of 137 characters before values are filled in. Shorter messages cost less and are more likely to be read in full; aim to keep the filled-in message within one or two SMS parts.
Category and Approval
In India this type of message is usually registered as Service Implicit: it relates to an existing transaction or relationship and can be delivered to numbers on the DND registry. It must not contain promotional content.
Compliance Checklist
- The brand name in the message matches your registered business or header.
- Promotional versions are sent only within the permitted hours and only to recipients who have not opted out.
- The header (sender ID) and the template are registered on a DLT platform, and the template text matches exactly, apart from the variables.
Rules to keep in mind for Insurance Agents & Brokers
IRDAI regulations govern how insurance is advertised and sold, including rules on advertisements and requirements to state the insurer's name, registration and that insurance is the subject matter of solicitation. Agents must use approved material and never guarantee claim outcomes.
General guidance, not legal advice. Rules change, so confirm current requirements before launch. See our SMS compliance guide for India.
Tips for Better Results
- Send it as close as possible to the event it relates to, such as right after booking or the day before an appointment.
- Keep one purpose per message; if you need to send a reminder and a document, the reminder should still make sense on its own.
Getting the premium received message right
Include the amount, policy number, coverage period and a link to the receipt, which customers may need for tax deductions.
Where this message fits for Insurance Agents & Brokers
Insurance buyers compare quotes online or through brokers, ask about cover, exclusions and claims processes, and buy around renewal dates or life events such as buying a car, home or having a child. Renewal is the critical moment, as many customers switch if not contacted early.
Search and comparison sites drive quotes; WhatsApp answers cover questions and collects documents; SMS sends renewal reminders and claim status; voice calls handle complex sales and claims; email delivers policy documents.
Campaign ideas that pair with this template
- Renewal reminders 45, 30 and 7 days before expiry
- Claim status updates by WhatsApp
- Life event campaigns, such as new car or new home cover

Questions About This Template
When should a insurance advisory send the premium received message?
Send after premium payment is confirmed. If customers reply, make sure someone on your team monitors and answers.
Can I send this SMS in India without DLT registration?
No. Commercial SMS in India must use a header and a content template registered on a DLT platform. Messages that do not match a registered template are blocked by the operator.
What does {#var#} mean?
It marks the variable part of a DLT template, such as a name, date or amount. Everything outside the variables must be sent exactly as registered.
Can DND Teams set this up for my insurance advisory?
Yes. We adapt the template to your business, register or submit it, and connect it to your software or our panel. Share your use case on WhatsApp or through the form.
