Campaign Appeal RCS Template for NGOs & Non-profits

A ready-to-adapt RCS message for NGOs, trusts and non-profit organisations, with placeholders, sample values and compliance notes.

When to Send This Message

Send to opted-in supporters during a specific campaign. For NGOs, trusts and non-profit organisations, this is one of the everyday messages that keeps donors and volunteers informed without a phone call. It can be sent manually from a panel at first and automated later through an API.

Donors and volunteers want to see impact, transparency and simple ways to give.

Placeholders and Sample Values

PlaceholderMeaningSample value
{campaign}Campaignwinter blanket drive
{date}Date15 Dec
{purpose}Purposefamilies in need in our project areas
{link}Linkhttps://example.com/c/NG5

Filling in each placeholder

  • Campaign (sample: winter blanket drive): Keep the value short and specific; test the longest realistic value to check the message still reads well.
  • Date (sample: 15 Dec): Write dates in an unambiguous form such as 14 Oct or 14 Oct 2026; avoid formats like 10/11 that customers read differently.
  • Purpose (sample: families in need in our project areas): Keep the value short and specific; test the longest realistic value to check the message still reads well.
  • Link (sample: https://example.com/c/NG5): Use your own short, recognisable domain; for SMS in India the domain must be whitelisted on DLT, and each variable is usually limited to 30 characters.

This template has 4 placeholders and a body of 106 characters before values are filled in. RCS card descriptions can be longer than SMS, but the first line should still carry the key information, as previews are truncated.

Category and Approval

Promotional RCS messages should only go to customers who have agreed to receive marketing messages, with an easy way to opt out, following the same consent principles as SMS.

Compliance Checklist

  • Your brand (name, logo and description) is verified with the RCS provider before launch.
  • Suggested replies and actions are short (25 characters or fewer per chip) and each one leads somewhere useful.
  • An SMS fallback is configured, and in India the fallback text uses a DLT-registered template.

Rules to keep in mind for NGOs & Non-profits

Donation receipts for 80G should be issued only if the organisation holds valid registration, and foreign contributions need FCRA registration. Impact figures shared publicly should be documented, and donor data must be protected under the DPDP Act, 2023.

General guidance, not legal advice. Rules change, so confirm current requirements before launch. See our RCS compliance guide for India.

Tips for Better Results

  • Limit frequency; a few relevant messages perform better and attract fewer opt-outs than frequent broadcasts.
  • Send only to people who have opted in, and record when and where they did so.

Where this message fits for NGOs & Non-profits

Donors and volunteers learn about a cause through social media, events, news or friends, check the organisation's registration, transparency and impact reports, and then give online or sign up. Regular givers are won by prompt thanks, clear receipts and stories showing what their money achieved.

Social media and email tell impact stories; search brings people looking for causes or volunteering; WhatsApp keeps volunteer groups updated; SMS sends donation receipts, event reminders and urgent appeals; voice calls thank major donors.

Questions About This Template

When should a NGO send the campaign appeal message?

Send to opted-in supporters during a specific campaign. If customers reply, make sure someone on your team monitors and answers.

What happens if the customer's phone does not support RCS?

The message falls back to SMS. In India the fallback must use a DLT-registered template, which is why this page includes the SMS version.

Can I add images to this message?

Yes. A rich card can include an image or short video. Keep important details in the text as well, since not everyone views the image.

Can DND Teams set this up for my NGO?

Yes. We adapt the template to your business, register or submit it, and connect it to your software or our panel. Share your use case on WhatsApp or through the form.
