EMI Payment Received SMS Template for NBFCs & Lending
A ready-to-adapt SMS message for NBFCs, lenders and loan DSAs, with placeholders, sample values and compliance notes.
When to Send This Message
Send after an EMI is received. For NBFCs, lenders and loan DSAs, this is one of the everyday messages that keeps borrowers informed without a phone call. It can be sent manually from a panel at first and automated later through an API.
Borrowers compare loan offers online and expect quick, transparent answers on eligibility, documents and EMIs.
The SMS Template
India (DLT format)
Dear {#var#}, we have received your EMI of Rs. {#var#} for loan account {#var#} on {#var#}. Thank you. - [Business Name]International (plain text)
Dear {customer}, we have received your EMI of Rs. {amount} for loan account {account} on {date}. Thank you. - [Business Name]Example with sample values
Dear Mr. Yadav, we have received your EMI of Rs. 8,450 for loan account XXXX4521 on 5 Nov. Thank you. - [Business Name]
With these sample values the message is 121 characters in the standard GSM-7 character set, which is 1 SMS part (square brackets count as two characters each). Long links or local-language (Unicode) text increase the count, as Unicode SMS allow 70 characters per single part.
Replace [Business Name] with your registered brand name. Links shown use example.com as a placeholder; use your own domain.
Placeholders and Sample Values
| Placeholder | Meaning | Sample value |
|---|---|---|
| {#var#} | Customer | Mr. Yadav |
| {#var#} | Amount | 8,450 |
| {#var#} | Account | XXXX4521 |
| {#var#} | Date | 5 Nov |
Filling in each placeholder
- Customer (sample: Mr. Yadav): Use the first name or the salutation the customer gave you; fall back to a neutral greeting if the field is empty.
- Amount (sample: 8,450): Write amounts as Rs. 1,499 rather than with the rupee symbol, which forces Unicode encoding in SMS and shortens each part to 70 characters.
- Account (sample: XXXX4521): Use the same reference format that appears on your invoices, receipts or software, so customers and staff can match it quickly.
- Date (sample: 5 Nov): Write dates in an unambiguous form such as 14 Oct or 14 Oct 2026; avoid formats like 10/11 that customers read differently.
This template has 4 placeholders and a body of 125 characters before values are filled in. Shorter messages cost less and are more likely to be read in full; aim to keep the filled-in message within one or two SMS parts.
Category and Approval
In India this type of message is usually registered as Service Implicit: it relates to an existing transaction or relationship and can be delivered to numbers on the DND registry. It must not contain promotional content.
Compliance Checklist
- The brand name in the message matches your registered business or header.
- Promotional versions are sent only within the permitted hours and only to recipients who have not opted out.
- The header (sender ID) and the template are registered on a DLT platform, and the template text matches exactly, apart from the variables.
Rules to keep in mind for NBFCs & Lending
RBI's Fair Practices Code and digital lending directions require clear disclosure (such as the Key Fact Statement), name the lender for every loan, and restrict recovery communication to reasonable hours with no harassment. Promotional loan messages need consent and must not promise guaranteed approval.
General guidance, not legal advice. Rules change, so confirm current requirements before launch. See our SMS compliance guide for India.
Tips for Better Results
- Send it as close as possible to the event it relates to, such as right after booking or the day before an appointment.
- Keep one purpose per message; if you need to send a reminder and a document, the reminder should still make sense on its own.
Getting the emi payment received message right
Include the amount, loan account number, date received and the outstanding balance or next due date, and link to the statement. This builds trust and reduces calls.
Where this message fits for NBFCs & Lending
Borrowers search for loan types, rates and eligibility, use calculators, compare lenders and apply online, then upload documents and wait for approval. Speed of decision and clarity on fees drive conversion, and after disbursal the relationship is about repayment reminders and top-up offers.
Search ads capture loan searches; comparison sites and partners refer applicants; WhatsApp collects documents and answers questions; SMS sends OTPs, approvals and repayment reminders; voice calls verify applicants and handle collections within permitted hours.
Campaign ideas that pair with this template
